Village Roadshow Profits

Australian entertainment company, Village Roadshow (ASX:VRL) released their profit report yesterday, posting an earnings growth to $117.2 million for the 12 months to June 30. Village Roadshow has sold its Greece and Czech Republic businesses, obtaining a $25.6 million profit.

The company has movie, radio and theme park assets including 506 cinema screens in Australia across 50 sites with plans to convert an additional 70 screens to digital this financial year. It has already converted 37 screens to digital since September 2009. Village owns theme parks and attractions including Sea World, Movie World, Wet'n'Wild, Sydney Aquarium and Sydney Wildlife world. The company also owns Film distribution companies: Roadshow films and Roadshow entertainment. Other assets owned include Village cinemas, Radio stations including Triple M and 2Day as well as film production and music.
