Ardent Leisure $21.4m Profit 1H2013

Theme Parks and Leisure Company, Ardent Leisure Group (ASX:AAD) have announced its half year results for 2013 to shareholders and investors.

  • Ardent Leisure Net Profit $21.4 million, up 11.4 percent on the prior corresponding period.
  • Ardent Leisure revenue up 9.8 per cent to $219.7 million, from $200 million.
  • Ardent Leisure chief executive Greg Shaw said, "The results show that we've significantly reduced our reliance upon the theme parks business and also show the increasing scale of the health clubs and the Main Event business."
  • Ardent Leisure's fitness clubs had $62.8 million in revenue, up 23 percent.
  • Ex-tropical cyclone Oswald negatively influenced theme park revenues in January, when it had closed its parks over the Australia Day long weekend, losing a potential $1 million in revenue.
  • Ardent Leisure owns the following theme parks: Dreamworld, Whitewater World and the SkyPoint observation deck at Surfers Paradise.
  • Ardent Leisure owns Goodlife Health Clubs for which it has 66 locations. It had recently acquired 11 fitness clubs from Fenix and 8 from Fitness First.
  • Ardent Leisure have acquired fitness clubs in Victoria and South Australia which will drive income growth in the next half.
  • Ardent Leisure has declared an interim dividend distribution of 6.6 cents per share.
