Academies Australasia Group (AKG) owns six registered Colleges in Australia and a college in Singapore. AKG Colleges in Australia are registered as providers of accredited courses with the Commonwealth Government of Australia for the purpose of offering courses to international students (CRICOS). The company was formerly known as Garratt's Limited is engaged in the provision of training and education services, and the manufacture, import and sale of fasteners. It operates in two segments: Fasteners, which manufactures, imports and sells fasteners, and Education, which provides training and education services. Academies Australasia is the brand name, under which Garratt's carries out its business in the Australian international education sector. There are seven colleges, each a separate company with its own licence to operate as an education institution - Academies Australasia College in Singapore and six colleges in Australia:
- Academy of English (ELICOS) [Including Academy of English (Blue Mountains) and Academy of English (Barton)]
- Australian International High School (Senior High School)
- Academy of Social Sciences (Vocational)
- Australian College of Technology (Vocational)
- Clarendon Business College (Vocational) [Including Clarendon Business College (Barton)]
- Supreme Business College (Vocational).
In Australia, Academies Australasia has two campuses in the heart of Sydney, New South Wales (George Street and Pitt Street), just a few minutes’ walk from each other. They also operate in Leura in the Blue Mountains (New South Wales) and in Barton (Australian Capital Territory). Academies Australasia collaborates with St. Aloysius College and English Language School of Australia in Adelaide, South Australia. It is looking at expanding further, in Australia and internationally.
Academies Australasia Group has Academies Australasia College in Singapore and six colleges in Australia: Academy of English, Australian International High School, Academy of Social Sciences, Australian College of Technology, Clarendon Business College and Supreme Business College. The company listed on the ASX on 1 June 1977. In 1998, Garratt acquired Premier Fasteners Pty Ltd.
In 2000 and 2001, the company divested its interests in multi-channel voice logging recorders and interactive multimedia technology. GRT's business is now concentrated in the provision of training and education services and manufacturing and sale of fasteners. The education colleges operated by Garatts are located in Sydney's CBD, making them easily accessible. They offer a wide variety of courses at many different levels. Garratt's customers include major Australian public companies and international corporations. It competes with other education providers such as TAFE and SIBT.
