Amcor Limited (AMC) is one of the largest packaging companies in the world. It offers its customers only the highest standards in the innovation of their packaging solutions, reliability of service and the partnerships that were built on excellence. AMC was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange on the 28th of August, 1969. Their annual sale from 217 plants that operates in 39 countries covering big regions of Europe, North and South America and Australasia is approximately AUD $11.0 billion. AMC’s annual revenue is approximately AUD $9.9 billion out if their issued capital which was AUD $3.1 billion. To date, around 24,500 people are employed in the company. There are six main divisions: Amcor Australasia, Amcor PET, Amcor Suclipse, Amcor Asia, Amcor Flexibles and others.

Amcor Australasia is in charge of manufacturing an array of packaging items such as tobacco cartons, corrugated boxes, folding cartons, aluminum cans for beverages, foods and household products, plastic and metal closures as well as PET plastic bottles and jars. The operation of Amcor Australasia is concentrated throughout New Zealand and Australia.

Amcor PET Packaging is a division of Amcor that manufactures containers out of polyethylene terephthalate to cater to the needs of consumer products industry. The headquarters of this division is located in Ann Arbor, Michigan and has operations in 36 on-site injections, blowing facilities and 46 manufacturing locations in 21 different countries.

Amcor Sunclipse is the manufacturing and corrugated unit of Amcor in North America. It is based in California and is in charged of manufacturing packaging products that would complement the distribution services of the company. Amcor Sunclipse operates mainly with its 11 manufacturing locations as well as its 42 distribution centres located in Mexico and in US.

Amcor Asia is the chief supplier of flexible plastic packaging, corrugated boxes, tobacco carton packaging, closures for beverage industry, and fibre sacks for industrial and food markets. Amcor Asia operates in three different countries with its head office located in Singapore.

Amcor Flexibles is the one responsible for the supply of the tobacco and other flexible packaging. It is further divided into three divisions, the Amcor Flexibles Healthcare and Amcor Rentsch, Amcor Flexibles Eastern Europe and Amcor Flexibles Food.

Amcor Company History

Amcor was founded in 1860 by Samuel Ramsden. It started as a paper mill business in Australia. Its first name was Australian Paper Manufacturers until they started with the packaging business in 1970. It was only in 1986 when the company changed its name to Amcor.

Smurfit Tobacco Products along with Stevens Flexible Packaging was acquired by Amcor in 1999. The following year, Amcor Fiber Packaging and Amcor Containers Packaging merged with Amcor becoming a single unit of business called the Amcor Packaging Australasia.

In 2004, Amcor made a business partnership with Campbell Soup Company to assist in the production of the bottles of polyethylene terepthalates. The following year, Vision Grande purchased two of the tobacco packaging plants of the company in China. The company owned 41.1 percent of Vision Grande shares by June of 2006. Also, the company has dissociated from its corrugated, tobacco and sacks business for a total of 49 million US dollars in Asia.

New products were introduced by Amcor in 2005. A variety of baking tray carton boards with the brand name TrayBon, was introduced by Amcor Sunclipse in North America. It was also in the same year when PowerFlex PET with Trade Winds Single-serve Tea was launched by Amcor.
