Apollo Life Sciences (AOP) specialises in biotechnology. The Company develops, manufactures and markets therapeutics based on human proteins. The company aims to discover and commercialise human proteins as cure for disease and ageing. The innovative combined technologies of Apollo are deemed to produce more effectual and lower cost therapeutics, as compared to the first generation protein-based drugs. AOP listed on the ASX on 29 June, 2005. The key areas for the application of products in Apollo’s therapeutic development pipeline are the diabetes, with oral insulin, and inflammation, with topical psoriasis and oral and topical rheumatoid arthritis treatments. The Company expanded and enhanced three platforms during the fiscal 2007 which comprise human cell expressed proteins (hcx), transdermal delivery technology (Intradel) and oral delivery technology (Oradel). The Company also expanded and advanced the clinical and other applications for these platforms.
The Company's protein products naturally imitate proteins in the human body, having structural characteristics to be better tolerated. They posses fewer side effects and provide more effective results in the human body. Apollo is presently engaged in the sale of research proteins and detection kits in the life sciences consumables market. Apollo is also targeting the skin renewal and inflammation segments of the over-the-counter market.
