Athena Resources (AHN) is a mineral exploration Company. Athena is mainly focused on nickel and gold deposits located within Proterozoic mobile belts that are considered highly prospective for mineral deposits on the boundaries of the Yilgarn and Pilbara cratons. The other exploration options available in these regions are copper, lead, zinc, silver and uranium. The Company listed on the ASX on 22nd November, 2006. AHN’s core projects comprise Ravensthorpe Project, Ashburton Project, Byro Project and Binneringie Project.
The Ravensthorpe Project spans over an area chiefly situated east and northeast of the town of Ravensthorpe in the close proximity of the south coast of Western Australia. The Ashburton Project is situated about 60 kilometers south of the Nanutarra-Paraburdoo road on Wyloo and Kooline Stations in the Ashburton Mineral Field, Western Australia. The heart of the project is located at a distance of around 185 kilometers from Paraburdoo and 100 kilometers from Nanutarra. Its Byro Project is situated close to Byro Station in the Gascoyne Mineral Field, Western Australia with heart of the project located about 250 kilometers from Geraldton and 300 kilometers from Carnarvon. The Binneringie Project consists of a range of tenement applications expanding over the Yilgarn Craton from Lake Cowan in the east to Williams on the Albany Highway in the west.
Athena completed the acquisition of Capricorn Resources Pty Ltd on November 10, 2006. Athena is looking for high grade nickel sulphide or copper-gold deposits in the secure prospective regions of its holdings that can prove economically beneficial to the Company by providing early cash flow that can support its continuing exploration.
