Auckland International Airport (AIA) carries out airport activities in New Zealand. AIA listed on the Australian Stock Exchange on 22nd February, 1999. Auckland Airport is among the most significant infrastructural assets of New Zealand and it offers thousands of jobs for the region. By worth AIA is considered as the country's second-largest cargo port which adds approximately $14 billion every year to the economy of the country. AIA provides carrying facilities to more than 10 million travellers every year. About 70 per cent of all international passengers use AIA’s transportation services.

During the current years Auckland Airport has made significant progress both in terms of increased number of worldwide passengers and in terms of aircraft activities. Auckland has the capability to deal with these increases but now further expansion is inevitable with the last big investment having been carried out in 1997.

Auckland International Airport History

Auckland airport was integrated in 1988, though it was formally opened in 1966. Initially, the government had 50% interest in the Auckland airport which was later increased up to 51.6%. However the balance is owned by city councils of Auckland. In July 1998, the New Zealand Government gave away all of its 51.6% interest in the airport in a public float. The Company was then listed on the NZ stock exchange. Auckland listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) in February 1999.
