Australian Trading Calendar - When is the ASX closed? When is the Australian stockmarket closed?

This is the Australian Trading Calendar which documents the public holidays which the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX – also known as the Australian stockmarket/sharemarket) is closed for trade. All other business days which aren’t noted here are usually a trading day and the exchange is open for trading.
These are the days and dates which the Australian stock exchange is closed to trading:

  • Friday 1 January New Year’s Day
  • Tuesday 26 January Australia Day
  • Friday 2 April Good Friday
  • Monday 5 April Easter Monday
  • Monday 26 April ANZAC Day Holiday
  • Monday 14 June Queen’s Birthday
  • Friday 24 December Last Business Day before Christmas Day – Open, but closes early at 14:10 Sydney time.
  • Monday 27 December Christmas Day / Boxing Day
  • Tuesday 28 December Boxing Day / Christmas Day / Proclamation Day
  • Friday 31 December Last Business Day of the Year – Open, but closes early at 14:10 Sydney time.
