Babcock & Brown Wind Partners (BBW) is an investment fund with a focus on the wind energy sector, having a market capitalisation of around a$1.4 billion. BBW is a small-cap, geographically distributed wind farm renewable energy utility stock, with BNB being the manager of fund. The principal activities of the fund incorporate the management of its portfolio of wind farms, and seeking to define and acquire further wind farms to add to its portfolio, that fulfil its investment criteria. BBW's portfolio of wind farms is spread across six countries and three continents, with interests in 83 wind farms, having a combined installed capacity of around 3,206MW. BBW listed on the Australian Stock Exchange on 28 October, 2005. BBW is solely focused on one business segment, the generation of electricity from wind energy. The Company intends to make investments in those assets that provide expected cash flow, backed by attractive off-take arrangements. The Company’s wind farms are spread across Australia, Spain, Germany, France and the United States. In December 2007, BBW acquired a 50% interest in the Enersis Portfolio of wind farms.
BBW is a stapled entity which comprises Babcock & Brown Wind Partners Limited, Babcock & Brown Wind Partners Trust and Babcock & Brown Wind Partners (Bermuda) Limited. It has a strategic relationship with Babcock & Brown, which is international investment and counseling firm serving the wind energy sector for over 20 years.
Babcock & Brown Wind Partners Group History
BBW was incorporated in 2003. The Company previously operated under the name Global Wind Partners, with Babcock and Brown Infrastructure (BBI) having a 50% interest in it. BBW was then formed and listed through an IPO accomplished on 28 October 2005. BBW holds interests in an international portfolio of wind energy-generation assets.
