Neuren Pharmaceuticals (NEU) is a biopharmaceutical company focused on the development of human therapies for neuroprotection, metabolic deficiencies and growth-related disorders. The company was formed by the merger of NeuronZ Ltd and EndocrinZ Ltd effective 1 January 2004. It has established operations in Aukland, New Zealand where majority of its employees and consultants are based. It also has an office in Australia, and Maryland in the the US. Company listed on the Australian stockmarket (ASX) on 3 February, 2005.
Narhex Life Sciences (NLS) has developed a new class of protease inhibitors, which are a group of drugs used to treat HIV infection. The lead candidate is DG17, which when ingested is converted to DG35, the molecule with anti-HIV activity. These compounds are covered by issued or filed global patents. Three Phase IA (safety and pharmacokinetic studies in normal volunteers) and one Phase IB (safety and efficacy in short-term monotherapy of HIV infection) clinical trials have been completed, and have shown safety and some evidence of efficacy. Future clinical trials are planned for 2007.
Mesoblast Limited (MSB) is a biotechnology company committed to the treatments for orthopaedic conditions, including the commercialisation of adult stem cell technology aimed at the regeneration and repair of bone and cartilage.
Medical Developments International (MVP) designs, manufactures and distributes a wide range of equipment, products and devices in the anaesthetics, oxygen delivery, veterinary and asthma management fields. The company also manufactures a pre-hospital and emergency pain relief product, which is used in Australian ambulance services. MDI has three business units: pharmaceutical, medical equipment and veterinary equipment.
