BT Investment Management Limited (BTT) is a fund management business in Australia specialising across a broad range of investment products, including equities, fixed income, cash and alternatives. BTT is listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX code: BTT) and manages over A$36.2 billion (31 December 2009) for investors. It is majority owned by the Westpac Group. The company sources funds from a range of clients, including institutional clients, advised clients and private clients. The Company is engaged in the provision of investment management services. Its subsidiaries include BT lnvestment Management (RE) Limited and BT Investment Managment Ernployee Share Plan.
BT Investment Management Limited (BTT) manages funds on behalf of institutional, advised and private clients. BTT has investment mandates with Westpac to manage its retail funds and superannuation trusts and provide model portfolios and research to its private client business, Private Portfolio Management. Competitors include other investment and funds management companies. Listed peers include PPT, IFL, PTM and TRG. In addition, BTT’s main differentiating factors include a strong brand name and its relationship with Westpac and access to its distribution muscle.
BT Investment Management History
BT Investment Management Limited (BTT) was formed from the investment management business within the BT Financial Group, which is owned by Westpac. Westpac spun out in BTT as a separate entity and listed it on the ASX in December 2007. The reasoning behind the listing was to help staff retention (in particular within the investment management teams); to help attract new staff; and to improve growth opportunities. Westpac retained a 60% stake in the business.
