Campbell Brothers Limited (CPB) is an Australia-based company engaged in the manufacturing and distribution of industrial cleaning agents and commercial chemicals; provision of analytical laboratory testing services and distribution of non-food consumables. CPB was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange on the 24th of August 1971. Its average annual revenue reaches approximately AUD$600 million. Its headquarters is located in Queensland, Australia and to date; around 4,250 people are employed in the company. Campbell Brothers Ltd operates mainly in three business segments: ALS Laboratory Group, Reward Distribution and Campbell Chemicals. CPB is in the Industrials sector and in the "Commercial Services & Supplies" industry.
ALS Laboratory Group is in charged of providing analytical and technical services. This segment of Campbell Brothers analyses the minerals, environmental and oil markets with the additional technical services given to different areas including microbiology, food, ecotoxicology, electronics, air quality and occupational health.
The Reward Distribution segment of Campbell Brothers Ltd is in charged of supplying paper goods, chemicals, kitchenware, tableware, and other related non-food consumables to customers in the hospitality industry, motels, fast food chains, restaurants, nursing homes, 5-star hotels, sporting clubs and retail sector.
The Campbell Chemicals segment of CPB is engaged in the manufacturing and distribution of chemicals and chemical agents for domestic and industrial customers alike throughout New Zealand, the South Pacific, Australia and other markets abroad. This segment is further divided into Cleantec, Deltrex, Campbell Consumer Products and Panamex Pacific. Cleantec manufactures and supplies innovative cleaning, sanitizing, engineering and water treatment system. Deltrex is one of the leading food chemicals and industrial groups in Australia. Campbell Consumer Products is one of the major Australian owned marketer and manufacturer of principal cleansing and household products. Panamex Pacific specialises in distributing consumer and industrial goods to the markets in the Pacific Island.
Campbell Brothers Company History
Campbell Brothers incorporated in Queensland in 1910. It first started off its life as asoap manufacturer but soon found its product range expand through the years. It listed on the Australian Stock Exchange in 1952. In the late 1980s the company made a series of acquisitions - with the first, Bushland Products Group in May 1989. In 2001 Campbell Brothers purchased major US mineral laboratory group Bondar Clegg.
A supplier of fast moving branded products in South Pacific Islands and Papua New Guinea was gained by the company in 1999. This supplier’s company name was Panamex Limited. Chemex Laboratory Group was also taken in the same year.
50.1% interest in RGM International was gained by Campbell Brothers Limited in 2000. RGM International is Australia’s leading service delivery company. Faulding Healthcare bought for $4.6 million the soap business of Campbell. Campbell became one of the largest laboratory services group. The company bought Analytical Services Laboratories Ltd (ASL) in 2001. ASL was the leading company in Canada for environmental analysis. Mr. Martin Kriewaldt became the company’s Director in 2001. Mr. Geoff McGrath was selected to be one of the Company’s Board of Directors in 2003. Ray Hill also became one of the Board of Directors of the company in the same year.
Colgate Palmolive bought Campbell's Consumer Products division brand for $40 million in 2004. In February 2005, Bruce Brown, company's Chief Executive tendered his retirement which took effect on the last day of August, 2005. Mr. Greg Kilmister was selected to be the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Campbell Brothers Limited in September upon Mr. Bruce Brown’s retirement. Bruce Brown became the company's non – executive Director in October 2005. Washroom Services and Pest Control business was traded in December 2006.
