Can I use Astrology Analysis to Trade Stocks?

Gann is the most famous trader who has used Astrology to analyse stocks to make a trading decision. Yes you can use it, but whether it is effective in giving you an edge in your trading is debatable. If you are a believer of astrology, it may even give you a placebo effect giving you confidence to trade. But if that confidence is not well placed... we all know the consequences of that.

Let me first disclose, I'm not a believer of astrology. Great for entertainment value but how people risk their capital based on an astrological report is beyond me. But I respect those who believe that astrology works with share trading. All power to you. I'm just here to report what I see.

I was reading an edition of an Australian Trading magazine "Your Trading Edge" or YTE magazine for short. When I first saw this when I was a newbie to trading I thought I was reading the comic gag section when they were relating cosmic symbols like Cancer and Aquarius to financial terms. But now a few years in and wiser – I now know that there is a market out there for this stuff. But you have got to be aware that the magazine is there also to promote products and services of its advertisers - and there are astrological trading products and services, mainly surrounding W.D. Gann and his methods for picking stocks as well as stock prophesy and stock predictions.

Was W.D. Gann profitable in his trading? Or did he make a lot of money selling seminars and books? Again that is debatable, but there is a lot of educational material about him and he also has a lot of books out on his theories and methodologies.

You can draw your own conclusions for using astrology in your trading. If you are more scientifically inclined then I predict that you will be very doubtful of something that cannot be empirically measured and tested (besides hard trading results). But if you are of the more spiritual or holistic type person and love to believe the power of the horoscopes section of the newspaper, you're more open to using astrology to analyse your trading charts.
