Capral Aluminum Limited (CAA) is an Australian based company engaged in semi-fabricated aluminium products manufacturing, marketing and distribution. Its products include commercial, residential, roofing and security products. CAA was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange on the 20th of November 1986. Its average annual revenue reaches approximately AUD$546 million. Its headquarters is located in Queensland, Australia and to date; around 1,260 people are employed in the company. Capral Aluminum Limited operates four manufacturing sites located in Canning Vale, Western Australia; Bremer Park, Queensland; Angaston, South Australia; and CampbellField, Victoria. CAA operates mainly in nine business divisions: Genesis products, commercial products, residential products, roofing products, security products, marine products, auto/transport, extrusions and other products.
The Genesis product division of Capral Aluminum Limited includes doors and windows that are framed with aluminium. The commercial product division of CAA includes a variety of external and partitioning door and window systems used mainly in the construction and building market. This division also provides products such as curtain wall sheet and curtain walling systems for the high-rise building finishing. The residential product division is engaged in the provision of variety of suites to the fabricators in the residential market. Other products in this division include double hung, sliding, awning and casement window systems as well as bi-fold, sliding and hinged systems.
Under the roofing product division, Capral offers a wide option for wall sheet and roofing profiles like hospitals, schools, power stations, chemical plants, water reservoirs, aquatic centres, and housing which are all supported by Estimator, Specifier and software packages. Under the security product division of the company are products like stainless steel barrier, SupaScreen as well as TempaTuff, the traditional security grilles for security windows and doors. Under the marine product division are products used for luxury vessels, small leisure boats, fishing vessels, workboats and patrol boats construction.
The extrusion division of Capral Aluminum Limited is in charged of the manufacturing of drawn and extruded products and light-fabricated products mainly used for automotive and building applications and to service the market for transport, consumer, electrical and industrial products. Other products of CAA include Capral Aluminium Patio Systems, Capral Aluminium seating systems, Capral Aluminium Qubelok and Capral Aluminium Guttering.
Capral Aluminium Company History
In 1936, under the name Alcan Australia, Capral's predessor commenced the company's operations in Australia. Alcan Aluminum was reorganized and consequently sold off its shares in both the Australian and New Zealand Operations in 1994. The company then changed its name to Capral Aluminum Limited.
In 2001, Capral Aluminum Limited closed its Renelt Facility at Granville, Sydney and sold its stainless steel business to Midway metals. It was in 2002 when the operations of Fletcher Aluminum’s distribution in Australia were acquired by Capral Aluminum after selling its Renelt Facility at Greenville to ING Industrial Fund.
In 2003, from the New Zealand Exchange, Capral listed off itself and in the year 2004, the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director position was given to Mr. Phillip J. Arnall.
Following this were the acquisitions of Crane Aluminum Systems, Smart Aluminum and Crane Aluminum Extrusions from Crane Enfield Metals in the year 2005, and Mr. Phillip J. Arnall, the Capral's Director, was appointed as the new Chairman of the company. The New Genesis, the company’s new range of doors and windows was launched in May 2006.
