Castle Minerals Limited (CDT) is a gold exploration Company with eight project areas covering more than 9,000km² in Ghana West Africa. The company was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange in May 2006 (ASX code 'CDT'). Castle's corporate objectives are exploration and development of the eight projects in Ghana and acquisition and exploration of other mineral resource opportunities, particularly in West Africa. All projects are either 100% owned or Castle has the right to acquire a 100% interest (subject to Ghanaian Government right to a free-carried 10% interest).
The country of Ghana, formerly known as the Gold Coast, has a long history of gold mining and exploration and is Africa's second largest gold producer behind South Africa. Castle has a very active exploration program within Ghana utilizing an experienced crew of local geologists and field technicians.
Castle Minerals Limited is engaged in carrying out exploration on its tenements, and applying for or acquiring additional tenements with the objective of identifying gold and other economic mineral deposits. It mainly operates in Australia and Ghana. The Company has eight project areas covering over 9,000 square kilometers in Ghana West Africa. It has acquired rights to mineral projects in Ghana, which include Akoko, Antubia, Banso, Bondaye, Opon Mansi, Papase, Sunyani Basin and Wa. The Company's Opon Mansi Project consists of one prospecting licence application located in south west Ghana. The Akoko Project comprises two granted prospecting licence. During the fiscal year ended June 30, 2009, the Company completed the acquisition of the Wa Reconnaissance Licence from Newmont Ghana Gold Limited.
