CBD Energy Ltd (CBD) is an industrial services group. It designs, manufactures, acquires, installs and finances energy saving equipment for commercial building owners and tenants. This includes power, lighting, ventilation and air-conditioning systems. The company and its subsidiaries are structured in two groups: building services and energy. It operates in two segments: Energy Efficiency Solutions and Mechanical Services Solutions. Energy Efficiency Solutions include CapTech, which is engaged in manufacture energy saving products and energy quality products, and also supply components and provides energy consulting services; Remote Area Power Systems Pty Ltd, which is an energy solutions company providing wind, solar and energy storage in an integrated solutions package; CBD Labs Pty Ltd, which is responsible for technology development, and Larkden owns applications relating to carbon block energy storage technology and other property.
CBD Energy Limited has placed continued emphasis on cooperatively streamlining operations to optimise efficiencies. Increased synergies enable the delivery of improved performance both for the company's individual businesses and the company's combined focused activities, from within, through partnerships and potentially through acquisitions. CBD also differentiates through its 'first mover' advantage in the energy management solutions industry.
CBD Energy's major competitors include other developers and installers of energy-efficient solutions and products that operate within Australia. Its major customers include owners of commercial high rise buildings, owners of manufacturing plants and tenants of commercial buildings across Australia.
CBD Energy History
CBD Energy evolved in 2002 from the Australian-listed company CBD Online Limited when that company acquired the energy management business Ventronics (Hong Kong). Since then, CBD Energy has rapidly grown into a diversified energy and building services group. In 2003, CBD acquired CapTech, a manufacturer of power quality solutions, and in 2004, it acquired Parmac Air Conditioning and Mechanical services, and OP Industries. CBD was first listed on the ASX in 1998.
