Challenger Infrastructure Fund (CIF) is a global diversified infrastructure fund, with operations in Australia, the United Kingdom, Europe and the United States. The Fund makes investments in regulated and contracted monopoly-like assets. The Fund may take over the whole assets or it may take part in investment consortia consisting of major industry players in order to acquire controlling or minority interest. Challenger Infrastructure Fund listed on the Australian Stock Exchange on August 19, 2005. CIF holds investments in three key assets which are Inexus Group (Holdings) Limited (Inexus), Southern Water Capital Limited (Southern Water) and Challenger LBC Terminals Jersey Limited (LBC). On October 15, 2007, the Fund completed the acquisition of 26.6% of Southern Water, a regulated water utility, as part of the Challenger-led Greensands consortium. LBC purchased 90% of GEP Asia Terminals Pte Ltd on August 22, 2007. On August 31, 2007, Inexus completed the acquisition of Exoteric Gas Solutions. The Fund’s assets portfolio is diversified by sector and geographical location. CIF mainly focuses on countries that have relatively stable political and regulatory environments. CIF follows a disciplined approach for investing in order to provide securityholders with an expected and steady income stream as well as potential for capital growth.
