Commander Communications Limited (CDR) is a company engaged in the provision of telecommunication services like data and hardware, mobile and fixed line as well as computer services like servers, PCs, outsourcing and software to both small and corporate businesses in Australia. CDR was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) on the 1st of December 2000. Its average annual revenue reaches approximately $1 billion out of its issued capital of $92 million. Its headoffice is located in Sydney, Australia and to date; around 1,100 people are employed in the company. CDR is in the "Information Technology" sector, "Technology Hardware & Equipment" industry group and in the "Communications Equipment" industry.
Commander Communications Limited operates mainly in four business segments: Volante managed services, voice hardware and services, data hardware and services and fixed wire network. The Volante managed services segment of CDR is engaged in the provision of professional services, product solutions and managed services to the information and communications technology market.
The voice hardware and services business segment of Commander Communications Limited offers solutions through the Internet Protocol (IP) technology with features such as call accounting and voice mail. By providing a variety of user-friendly facilities for call management, this segment is able to improve both the internal and external communications of its customers.
The data hardware and services business segment is in charged of the provision of information access. The quick shifting of data to various cities and overseas countries is made possible and easy by the OneStream VPN option of CDR.
CDR's fixed wire network business segment is engaged in the provision of data telecom and fixed wire integrated voice services as well as mobile services.
Commander Communications Company History
Commander Australia purchased Commander Communication in 1998. Commander Communication was previously under Telstra’s division. Its former operation was to sell telephone systems to the market of SME. Three data businesses of the company became one and Centari Group was acquired in 2003. RSL Com group was also taken by the company. This company supplies data telecom services and fixed wire integrated voice. Commander Network was introduced when the company administered an agreement with national telecoms firm Telstra.
80% of Personal Broadband Australia was taken by Commander in June 2005 with the condition to purchase the remaining equity after 36 months.
Commander continued to receive Telstra wholesale services in January 2006 when the former extended its long-term standing contracts. Telstra services were improved and incorporated communication and cost effective solutions to businesses. Commander made a contract with two network providers.
Commander got Volante in April 2006. Commander OneStream was introduced in November 2006. Volante was a next-generation Internet Protocol network.
Pulse was launched in February 2007. Pulse is an all-in-one communication that simplifies and integrates voice services. It also provides data services for Small Office/Home Office businesses and to professionals as well. Commander Centre Sunshine Coast was established in Maroochydore in May of the same year.
In August 2007, the company partnered with Kleenmaid. Kleenmaid was the largest direct retailer of laundry and kitchen appliances. The purpose of the partnership was to deliver data telecommunication requirements and fixed wire voice services. Unitel Australia Limited was sold to M2 Telecommunications Group in February 2008. The company’s Enterprise ICT business assets found in Western Australia was traded to Empired Limited.
