CPI Group is an independent supplier of graphic arts and industrial products. Products include specialty and self-adhesive papers, printing and finishing machinery and accessories, ink and varnishes, and imaging technology and equipment. The company also has a range of cleaning chemicals, food services and industrial packaging, wrapping materials and equipment and janitorial products. CPI's sales and distribution network now covers all Australian states and territories plus NZ.
The Company’s subsidiaries include Consolidated Paper Industries (Australasia) Pty Ltd, Consolidated Paper Industries Pty Ltd, Consolidated Paper Industries (SA) Pty Ltd, Consolidated Paper Industries (WA) Pty Ltd, Consolidated Paper Industries (New Zealand) Limited, CPI Trading Pty Ltd and CPI Graphics Ltd.
CPI differentiates itself from competitors through its "One Source" system. With this system, CPI works with its clients to structure a complete procurement package, minimising the need for multiple suppliers. CPI's customer base is spread across Australia and New Zealand. The company's papers clients are printers, advertising agencies and graphic designers. Its Graphics division client base are chiefly printers and publishers.
CPI Group History
CPI was established in Victoria in September 1977 by Peter Sajet and Daryl Lea under the name Consolidated Paper Industries Holdings. Over time, the company moved to expand its distribution network with a concerted push interstate. CPI listed on the ASX in 1992. The company sold its 50% holding in the Raflatac Oceania partnership (a 50/50 joint venture with Raflatac Oy) to its JV partner in FY00 and its 50% stake in the Braeside Partnership in FY01. In mid 2002 the Trading arm was divested.
