In late 2005 CDU completed the purchase of a mining tenement EPM 13049, covering an area of around 2200 hectares. The EPM comprises a number of old historical copper mines, with premium quality copper ore being produced from these mines during the past century. CuDeco’s focus has been on proving up this high quality copper/Cobalt and Gold resource tenement which is now called Rocklands. CDU’s mining tenements at Rocklands consist of ML 90117, EPM 13049, MLA 90177 and MLA 90188.
In 2006 CDU identified a previously unknown zone of high grade copper, cobalt and gold mineralisation, called Las Minerale, with a present strike length of 1600m. Apart from the Las minerale project CuDeco also holds further projects, incorporated and situated adjacent to the Las Minerale combined with a total length of Copper mineralisation of around 10 klms. CDU is currently focused on undertaking a series of drill holes on a 25 X 25m grid to vertical depths of over 250m designed to investigate areas contiguous to and in between identified mineralised zones.
CuDeco sold its copper sulphate pentahydrate production business in June 2007. During fiscal 2008, the Company continued its drilling operations with five drill rigs. Drilling at "Rocklands Central" region, which comprises three key zones namely, Le Meridian, Central Rocklands and Southern Rocklands is well under way. This project is located within the mining tenement EPM 13049 and it is collectively called as the Rocklands Group Copper Project.
