Fleetwood Corporation (FWD) specialises in the manufacture and marketing of caravans, vehicle parts and accessories. The Company is also focused on the design, manufacture, distribution and rental of manufactured accommodation. Fleetwood was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange on 15th of April, 1987. Fleetwood focuses its development activities through two divisions: recreational vehicles and manufactured accommodation. FWD holds a strong position in each of its divisions. Its principal operations and activities are mainly held in Australia and New Zealand. The Company provides services to a diverse customer base. It supplies large temporary accommodation villages to the resource sector. FWD is also engaged in the supply of recreational products to the retail market. The growing number of retirees also offers further opportunities for the business growth.
Fleetwood Corporation History
The company started business operations in 1964 as a distributor of caravans and caravan accessories. It became floated on the Australian Stock Exchange in 1987. At the time of listing the group activities also included the operation of caravan parks and the manufacture of park homes. FWD was incorporated with a focus to acquire three companies from the previously known Fleetwood Group, which started its business operations during the mid 1960s. In 1994, FWD completed the acquisition of Camperent Australia, having the licensing rights for Hertz campervan hire in Australia. In mid 2001, the Company took over the business operations of Camec, an Australasian RV parts distributor. In 2003, FWD completed the acquisition of Windsor Caravans and Car-Van. The Company sold its WA-based caravan park operations in mid 2004.
