Greenbox Group (GNB) is a licensed electricity retailer in NSW, VIC,QLD and SA and also holds licences for gas retailing in NSW and SA. It has no affiliation with an electricity distribution business. JGL’s target markets are residential customers, and small to medium enterprises. The company offers preset percentages of Green power for use for an additional rate per unit of electricity. GNB was listed on the Australian stockmarket (ASX) on 12 November, 1987.
In December 2004, ASX listed property development company Lion Equities Limited (LEL) acquired 100% of the issued capital of Jackgreen (International) Pty Limited, a 100% green energy retailing company incorporated in 2001. Upon re-listing on the ASX on 23 December 2004 with a new name Jackgreen Limited (JGL), the company sold all its property assets.
Greenbox Group (GNB)’s marketing strategy has essentially three segments: (1) telemarketing; (2) direct sales; and (3) brand awareness through community services and advertisements. For direct sales, the company has 12 months roll-over contracts with four companies to provide sales agents travelling door to door to promote and sell JGL products.
Customers consist mainly of residential areas and SMEs in the Sydney, Wollongong and Newcastle metropolitan areas. Major competitors would mainly be organisations that provide environment-based products in the market.
