Major positive development has been US Food and Drug Administration recent approval (12 Sep 08) to conduct a 20-patient US feasibility trial of C-Pulse commencing this quarter.
SomnoMed (SOM) focuses on the development and commercialisation of treatments for people who suffer from snoring and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). The company makes a custom-made splint, which is similar to a mouth guard, that the sufferer wears while sleeping.
Safety Medical Products (SFP) is engaged in the development of a range of safety and retractable syringes and has entered into a Strategic Alliance Agreement with Exelint International Co. of the USA for the manufacture and production of the Securetouch safety syringe in Korea, and for the exclusive sale and distribution of the product in the US, Japan, Germany and the UK. The company also holds the rights to the technology and product known as Meditag, a temperature control product.
Resonance Health (RHT) is an Australian healthcare company developing and commercialising magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) related diagnostic technologies. RHT's first product, FerriScan, is a non-invasive MRI based test, allowing measurement of iron levels in the liver. The FerriScan test involves an MRI scan followed by secure transmission of the images via the internet to RHT's analysis centre from anywhere in the world. The test requires no new equipment purchase by MRI centres.
Austofix Group (AYX) manufactures and designs orthopaedic medical devices and implants with a particular focus on public health care issues and trauma predisposed by osteoporosis. It is one of a few Australian companies that can take a new device concept, develop it and turn it into a fully commercialised product that meets regulatory approval for distribution around the world.
