Housewares International (HWI) is one of the major suppliers of electrical consumer products, with operations in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Canada and USA. Its principal activities and operations include the innovation, manufacturing, marketing and wholesale of small electrical appliances, home wares and cleaning products, with a focus on consumer products market. Houswares International listed on the Australian Stock Exchange on 25th May, 1999. The Company is headquartered in Sydney, Australia. The consumer electrical brands of the Company are Breville, Kambrook, Ronson and Goldair. HWI also distributes personal care products of the Philips brand. The Company aims to maximise shareholder value through the provision of quality services in product development together with providing excellence services to its customer base. With the help of its Design Centre based in Sydney, Australia and centre for product development, the Company is able to supply products to the global consumer market.
Housewares International History
Housewares International commenced operations as a small Australian importer in 1957. The Company made a significant growth and acquired the business operations of Metro Marketing, based in US in 1997. It listed on the Australian stock exchange in 1999. In 2000, the Company completed the acquisition of the Breville Group. It also acquired a 50% shareholding in Anglo-Canadian Housewares, a leading supplier of homewares in Canada, during the same year. Subsequently, the Company moved its focus to the electrical business after the acquisition of Breville Group. In January 2007, the Company acquired the remaining 50% shareholding in the business of Anglo-Canadian Housewares, from its joint venture partner. With the global expansion of its electrical business, the Company ceased the operations of its homewares and cleaning businesses during March 2007. Now the Company is fully focused on its global electrical business, with its successful and growing Breville brand.
