National Can Industries (NCI) is a leading Australasian packaging company operating in Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Fiji. The Company manufactures and markets quality metal and plastic packaging products and services for a range of industrial and food applications. Its products include metal cans, drums and pails, plastic containers, plastic pails, caps and closures, tinplate and aluminum sheeting and decoration, and machine equipment and tooling. NCI listed on the Australian Stock Exchange on 12 July, 1984. To date the Company has over 900 people employed. The Company has two operating businesses: NCI Packaging which is engaged in metal and plastic manufacturing and Pacmetal Services which is engaged in the supply of highly decorated, coated and plain Tinplate and aluminium, to local and international packaging manufacturers. The Company’s manufacturing facilities are located throughout Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Fiji. NCI supplies its products to a number of markets, such as paint, aerosol, food, chemical and beverage industries, and wholesale merchants. National Can Industries is the third largest can-making company in Australasia.

National Can Industries History

The National Can Company was created in Melbourne in 1954 by four experienced can-makers. By 1960 the number of the company’s staff had increased to 70. In 1984 National Can Industries (NCI) was incorporated. NCI listed on the ASX on 12 July, 1984. The company entered into the markets of Papua New Guinea and Fiji in 1994.
