Neptune Marine Services (NMS) has developed patented underwater welding technology for use in a variety of damage-repair situations, and is suited to welding in hazardous environments. NMS also provides other engineering services, including subsea and pipeline engineering; commercial diving; specialist fabrication; inspection, repair & maintenance; pipeline stabilisation and grouting; subsea consultancy; ROV and vessel supply; hydrographic surveying; and project management. It operates in Australia, UK and USA.

The company was incorporated in Australia in July 2003, and listed on the Australian stockmarket (ASX) on 15 April, 2004. On 2 June 2005, an Australian Patent was granted to the company for its underwater welding technology.Neptune's technology has been approved for use by prominent international shipping organisations such as the American Bureau of Shipping. The technology has wide applications, and can be used in the shipping, marine infrastructure, oil and gas and defence industries.

Major customers of Neptune Marine Services' technology include commercial shipping operators, the oil and gas industry, and the Australian Defence Force. Major competitors include companies providing more traditional forms of welding solutions. The Company’s range of asset management services includes specialist engineering and fabrication, inspection, repair and maintenance (IRM), commercial diving, asset integrity management, project management and its dry underwater welding technology-NEPSYS. In November 2009, the Company acquired Submersible Technology Services (Holdings) Ltd.
