Occupational and Medical Innovations Limited (OMI) is involved in the development and manufacturing of safety equipment for the medical industry. OMI's core products include, a retractable safety syringe, a needle sheath, a safety scalpel, safety canula and canula valve.
Occupational and Medical Innovations was created by Bruce Kiehne, to develop and market his medical safety inventions. OMI listed on the Australian stockmarket (ASX) in October 2000. OMI has negotiated a number of international manufacturing and distribution alliances for its safety products. OMI's safety products are simple and cheap to mass-produce.
OMI has several distribution partners including China Medical and Persona Medical. In 2004 Occupational and Medical Innovations filled its first safety scalpel orders from Australian hospitals. OMI competes with various safety syringe manufacturers including Safemate and Welcon and Eastlands Medical Systems.
The Company's products include Occupational and Medical Innovations Auto Retractable Safety Syringe and OMI Safety Scalpel. The OMI Auto Retractable Safety Syringe offers one-handed activation that is part of the natural action of using a standard syringe. The OMI Auto Retractable Safety Syringe is available in various syringe sizes, including one milliliter, three milliliter, five milliliter and 10milliliter. The OMI Safety Scalpel features protective guard that covers the blade ensuring safe loading, passing, changing and disposing of the scalpel. The OMI Safety Scalpel is available with either a disposable plastic or reusable stainless steel handle. It has operations in Australia. The Company’s subsidiaries include OMI Research Pty Ltd, Jireh Tech Pty Ltd, OMI Inc, OMI Manufacturing Pty Ltd and OMI Properties Pty Ltd.
