PanAust (PNA) is an emerging mining company focused on mining copper-gold at the Phu Kham mining operation in Laos and searching for gold and copper in Southeast Asia. Key growth projects include advanced exploration and feasibility study at the Ban Huoayxai Gold-Silver Project, Laos, and the Puthep Copper Project, Thailand; advanced exploration at the Phonsavan Copper Project, Laos; and early exploration at the Pha Nai copper and Phu He gold prospects, Laos.
Pan Australian Resources NL (PNA) was incorporated in NSW in 1983 as a gold and platinum exploration company. It listed on the Australian Stockmarket (ASX) in January 1987 as Bruce Resources NL and in 1995, it changed its name to Pan Australian Resources. In May 2008, PNA changed its name to Panaust Ltd. In 2001, PNA purchased an 80% interest in Phu Bia Mining, which holds the Phu Bia Contract Area in Laos.
PNA has received a number of promising results from its prospective Phu Bia Contract Area in Laos. The Puthep project is Thailand's largest known copper deposit and extensive drilling is being conducted. By operating primarily in Laos and Thailand, PNA is able to minimise costs while undertaking exploration and testing.
The mining industry is a highly competitive global industry. PNA's major customers would include the retail, wholesale and international markets. Its competitors consist of other copper and gold mining companies.
During the year ended December 31, 2009, the Company was engaged in production and sale of copper-gold concentrate from the Phu Kham Copper-Gold Operations; Gold dore production from the Phu Kham Heap Leach Operation, and exploration and evaluation of sites in Laos and Thailand. PanAust owns 90% interest in Phu Bia Mining Limited (Phu Bia Mining), through the Company’s wholly owned subsidiary, Pan Mekong Exploration Pty Limited. PanAust holds 49% interest in Puthep Company Ltd (Puthep) through the Company’s wholly owned subsidiary, PNA (Puthep) Pty Limited.
PanAust's projects include Phu Kham Copper-Gold, Ban Houayxai Gold-Silver Project, Phu Kham Heap Leach Gold, Phonsavan Copper Project, Ban Phonxai Copper-Gold Prospect, Phu He Gold Prospect and Puthep Copper Project. Its the Puthep Copper Project is a joint venture project with Padaeng Industry Public Company Limited. The project consisted of two deposits: PUT 1 and PUT 2.
