PowerLan (PWR) owns a group of software vendors that develop and provide IT services. PWR offers mission critical software as well as consulting, business analysis, project management and software engineering services and support. IT security and communications, software for international monetary systems, investment management software and operating systems are amongst the specialties of PWR’s subsidiaries.
In September 1992, PWR commenced operations in Sydney. Its main business was initially in computer system design and assembly. During 1997, it moved into professional services and application development. In August 1999 Powerlan listed on the ASX at an issue price of $0.50. In October 2000 PWR floated Clarity International on the Australian stockmarket (ASX) retaining a 40.8% stake.
Powerlan's differentiating factor is its' ability to enable customers to achieve productivity gains. This is done by leveraging Powerlan's unique intellectual property in various areas including the design and implementation of unique mission critical information systems; the provision of outsourced business process services where experience is productively shared amongst multiple customers; and the provision of smart IT infrastructure solutions.
Powerlan's major customer for the IMX product is American Express. Amongst Clarity's customers are an Indian-based telecommunications company, Reliance and a Malaysian company, Telekom Malaysia. Generally Powerlan's customers include SME's, especially those in the telecommunications and financial services industries.
The Company’s customers include PLDT, Reliance Communications, ANZ Bank, Credit Suisse, Commerzbank, Vodafone and Vodacom. In November 2009, it acquired the remaining 49% in Omnix Holdings Limited.
