Reece Australia (REH) is a major supplier of plumbing and bathroom products. The Company is engaged in the import, wholesale, distribution, marketing and retailing of bathroom equipment and accessories. Reece operates a network of 360 stores throughout Australia and it offers a wide range of products to customers in the trade, retail, professional and commercial markets. The Company listed on the ASX on 1st January, 1974 and it employs more than 3500 people. Its plumbing products consist of rainwater tanks, hot water units, pipe and fittings, valves, tools and hardware, clips and pipe supports, toilets and pumps. Its bathroom products range include heated towel rails, basins, tapware, baths and spa baths, bath outlets, shower outlets, and shower cubicles and bath. Reece Irrigation stores provide a variety of products which include turf, agricultural sprays and drippers, valves, pipe and fittings, pumps, automatic controllers, professional outdoor lighting and a number of water saving products. The Company through its in excess of 260 showrooms is providing retail customers with a broad range of bathroom products including Australian and international brands. Reece is the pioneer of many of the services and initiatives in the plumbing industry and it is committed to provide quality products and outstanding services to customers. The Company has also influenced trends in bathroom products and design in the state. It also established the first National Training Centre to assist plumbers in improving their technical and business skills. Reece operates a Project Department which conduct specialised building and commercial plumbing projects.
Reece Australia History
The business was established by Harold Joseph Reece in 1919, with its first plumbing hardware store opened in Melbourne in 1920. The number of stores steadily grew through the 1970s and the Company listed on the ASX on 1 January 1974. In 1976, it moved its Head Office from Caulfield to Ringwood Victoria. The company continued to expand at national level and it was renamed from "HJ Reece Limited" to Reece Australia Limited in 1987. In 1999 it established its ‘reeceprojects' business, to help specifiers select the right bathroom, kitchen and laundry products for large scale residential and commercial developments. In 2001, REH launched reecedesign, which is an innovative display centre for architects and interior designers. In 2003, the Company opened its 250th outlet in Australia. In 2005, REH achieved the annual sales of $1 billion AUD for the first time. In 2006 Reece entered into the international market by acquiring LG Carder in New Zealand. In 2007, it established a new specialty business, Refrigeration, at Ferntree Gully, Victoria. In 2007, the Company added 5 HVAC-R branches - North Geelong Vic, Albury NSW, Hobart Tas, Condon & Cairns Qld and opened its 350th outlet.
