Seven Group Holdings (SVW) is recognised as one of Australia's leading media companies. They are one of the two largest publishers of magazines in Australia. And, they are creating a significant presence in online and new communications technologies. It is recently listed on the Australian Stockmarket (ASX) on 30 April, 2010.
Quintex lenders listed Seven in 1993. In 1995-96, Seven won Atlanta, Sydney, Nagano, 2002-08 Summer & Winter Olympic rights; Kerry Stokes acquired 20% and became Chairman. In 1998, Seven switched from high-cost US to local drama and sold Kirk Kerkorian its 25% of MGM. Kerry Stokes now owns 42% of the company.
The company's television programming reaches more than nine in ten Australians every week. In addition, the company's magazines business publishes one in four magazines read by Australians. And, they publish three of the most widely-read magazines in Australia. More than five million Australians engage with them online each month.
Seven is also recognised as the leader in breakfast television, news and public affairs, and Australian-produced drama and sports programming - the company's reputation being built on a commitment to produce and deliver programming relevant to Australians. They produce more Australian drama series for television than any other network. And they have partnerships with the Australian Football League and the fastest-growing sport in Australia, V8 Supercars, underpins their leadership in sports television.
Seven is taking the lead in the planning for digital television. Australia's first specially designed digital production and broadcast centre is placing Seven at the forefront of the creation of content from the same servers for application in broadcast and subscription television, online, wireless and broadband.
Seven's planning for the future is built on the knowledge that television will continue to dominate communications - as the gateway for audiences through "traditional" television programming and the integration of internet and other online and broadband viewing options. This commitment underpins Seven's Yahoo!7 partnership with Yahoo! Inc. Yahoo!7 brings together the successful Australian internet business, Yahoo! Australia & NZ, and Seven's online assets and television and magazine content. The company also combines the strengths of Yahoo! search and communications capabilities and its global internet network, with Seven's rich media and entertainment content and marketing capabilities. The joint venture is driving the online, mobile and IPTV businesses of both companies in Australia.
Through Seven Media Group – a joint venture between Seven Network Limited and Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. - they are driving the future of a multi-faceted media company in Australia, bringing together a market-leading presence in broadcast television, magazines publishing and online and expanding new communications platforms in their joint venture with Yahoo, Inc in Australia. Seven’s broadcast television platform reaches 98 per cent of Australians. Seven’s magazines publishing business, Pacific Magazines publishes more than one in five magazines sold in Australia. Seven’s Yahoo!7 joint venture with Yahoo, Inc combines the strengths of Yahoo’s search and communications capabilities and its global internet network with Seven’s media and entertainment content and marketing capabilities.
They are committed to broadcast television and publishing and the development of new opportunities for their content in a digital landscape. Through its new digital broadcast centres and with their ability to create and deliver content across a number of different communication mechanisms, they are building a significant presence in all forms of communications.
