SP Telemedia (SOT) is a leading multi-media full service telecommunications Company trading as SOUL, with a market capitalisation of more than $700M. The Company has a strong presence in telecommunications industry of Australia and it is engaged in the provision of innovative voice, internet and data services to an extensive customer base. SOT listed on the ASX on 10 May, 2001. In October 2005, SOT elected to combine all of the SPT companies including Soul Pattinson Telecommunications, SPT Telecommunications and SPTCOM, in order to make one new brand, called Soul. SOT owns the second largest voice and data network in Australia and it is the most profitable, fastest growing and sustainable Australian telecommunications company, generating positive cash flows and revenue. The Company completed the acquisition of TPG Holdings Limited in April 2008 and acquired Chariot Limited in August 2008. The Group has recently made significant expansion which has enabled it to establish an infrastructure based full-service multimedia/telecommunications business. There are a number of entities included in the Corporate Group such has NBN Limited (NBN), One80 Digital Post (180 D), B Digital Limited (BBB), B Digital (B), Digi Plus (Digi), Soul Pattinson Telecommunications (Soul), SPTCOM Pty Limited (previously Comindico) and SPT Telecommunications (SPT JV). SOUL has developed and launched a national IP network to impart Video over IP for Digital Television distribution. The network carry DTV for NBN Television, WIN Television, Prime, SBS, ABC and TEN together with carrying the standard WAN and VOIP services for a wide customer base comprising Consumer, SME, Corporate and Government sectors.
SP Telemedia History
SOT became floated on the ASX in May 2001. In 2004 it completed the takeover of Nine Network affiliate, NBN. In October 2005, the Company elected to consolidate all of the SPT companies which include Soul Pattinson Telecommunications, SPT Telecommunications and SPTCOM to create one new brand, Soul. On 7 April 2008, the parent entity acquired 100% of TPG Holdings Limited. The consideration for the acquisition was a cash payment of $150 million plus the issue of 270,000,003 ordinary shares in SP Telemedia Limited.
