Super Cheap Auto Group (SUL) is in the business of retailing automotive parts and accessories, boating, camping and fishing products. SUL operates in Australia and New Zealand. It listed on the ASX on July 6, 2004 and employs over 4,000 people across Australia and New Zealand. The Company operates through Supercheap Auto; BCF Boating, Camping and Fishing; and Goldcross segments. Its Supercheap Auto segment retails and distributes motor vehicle spare parts and accessories, tools and equipment. Supercheap Auto has launched 251 non-franchised stores in Australia and New Zealand since 1974 and it stocks in excess of 10,000 quality value-priced items for the car, garage and shed. BCF Boating, Camping and Fishing segment is involved in the retailing and distribution of boating, camping and fishing products. At present BCF operates 51 stores in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, Northern Territory and Western Australia and it plans to open more stores in the future. The Company’s Goldcross segment is engaged in the wholesale, retailing and distribution of bicycle and bicycle accessories and it operates 15 stores in Queensland and Victoria. On June 23, 2008, the Company acquired Goldcross Cycles. Super Cheap Auto Group is experiencing strong growth since its establishment which can be attributed to a long standing commitment to the recruitment and management of its team culture, ideal store layout and locations and wide range of products offerings across both its Supercheap Auto and BCF Boating Camping Fishing brands. During the past 15 years, the compound annual income growth of Supercheap Auto is in excess of 25%.
Super Cheap Auto Group History
The business was established by Reg and Hazel Rowe in 1972, with a focus on automotive accessories mail order. By 1974, the business revenue reached to $1 million and SUL launched its first retail store in Brisbane. Today SUL has more than 212 outlets in every state and region of Australia and New Zealand. In May 2003, SUL acquired Marlows, a leading independent retail business of automotive parts and accessories operating in WA and SA. The Company simultaneously opened seven stores in New Zealand in November 2003, and expanded into the New Zealand market. At present SUL has 32 stores located in New Zealand. The Company listed on the ASX in July 2004.
