Seminars
I visited the Property and Investment expo (+ Franchising) at the Darling Harbour Convention Centre last weekend. It was a rather sad affair for the “share trading” portion of their show, but it was boom time for franchises and property. Going there, you wouldn’t even suspect that there is a global meltdown from the subprime mortgage fiasco. Many property managers and developers were on show as well as plenty of mum and dad franchises like vending machines, small luxury food chains as well as other luxury services. But I was there for the advertised “share trading” section.
I was planning a trip to Las Vegas to attend a conference there when I came across Kathy Lien's blog which listed the Traders EXPO New York 2008. Fortunately, the expo was a week before the Vegas conference so I decided to hop on along to New York. The trip from Sydney was enjoyable, the on-board entertainment options was enough to keep the time flying by.
Save $18 Use This Ticket To Give You Free Entry into the Sydney Investment Expo (And also the Franchise and Property Expo too): There seems to be an excess of seminars and other events related to this industry occurring in Sydney at the moment. It was kind of dead for the past 3 months, now you've got financial companies coming out giving free seminars about retail trading products and services, giving you the sell on their own 2 day seminars that go for $2,000 or $3,000 a pop. Is it worth it?
I recently attended a HomeTrader seminar trying to sell me their education program. Here's what I thought about their sales pitch: Trading Mind Games Blog Entry.
They seem reputable - their head company is now a listed company on the ASX since last week.
It is a professional service - although I didn't feel it was for me.
What do you think? Have you come across them?
I attended a seminar last week that was trying to sell me a product called "HomeTrader" - I will blog about that company later - but for now the topic is about trading being a mind game. Trading shares, forex or any other equity involves what I call the "Trading Mind Game". As human beings we are influenced by our environment.
