Crown (CWN) is one of the Australia's leading entertainment groups. The Company has its businesses and investments in major international markets. Crown listed on the ASX on 3rd of December, 2007. Crown Entertainment Complex in Melbourne and Burswood Entertainment Complex in Perth are two of Australia’s leading gaming and entertainment complexes that are wholly owned and operated by Crown. The Crown Entertainment Complex has 2,500 electronic gaming machines and 350 table games. It has two hotels with 947 rooms, comprising 31 luxury villas.
Casino company Crown Casino (ASX:CWN) have reported their first half profit results to its shareholders and investors on the Australian stock market.
- Crown posted a $180.8 million Net Profit, down 34.1 percent from $274.4 million in the previous corresponding period.
- The result included a $74.3 million loss on Sydney and Queensland casino operator Echo Entertainment. Crown has a 10 percent stake in Echo.
Crown Casino (ASX:CWN) has announced plans of building a $568 million 6 star hotel at its Perth casino. A deal struck with the Western Australian (WA) government includes an expansion of gambling facilities. The hotel is called Crown Towers and will be built on the Burswood Peninsula. It will have 500 rooms (increasing capacity to 1200 rooms in the precinct) along with restaurants, bars, resort and convention facilities.
Crown Casino (ASX:CWN) will spend $281 million to upgrade its business. This is on top of the $139 million that will be spent to upgrade the Crown Casino in Melbourne and Burswood Casino in Perth. This signals the company's confidence to attract high rollers to its VIP gambling service, and meet the the competition from new casinos in Singapore and Macau.

James Packer's Macau Crown Casino (CWN) revenue slipped for a third consecutive quarter as travel restrictions on mainland residents slowed growth in visitor arrivals. Casino revenue declined to $3 billion in the fourth quarter from $3.2 billion in the previous three-month period, according to figures posted on the Macau Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau's Web site.
James Packer's Crown has persuaded the banks that, it has the capability to repay the debts. It has managed to arrange a bilateral facility from 10 banks to repay the syndicated debt facility which is due on August 2010.The facility has arranged them at least 1.1 billion Australian dollars or 355 million US dollars approximately.
Crown (CWN) has a target price of $15.10 and a reiterated Outperform recommendation from Australian Stockmarket analyst Macquarie Research Equities.
