Australian supermarket rivals, Woolworths (ASX:WOW) and Wesfarmers (ASX:WES) owned Coles are aggressively spending on marketing. The results of the marketing war will be revealed once the two grocery competitors release fourth quarter sales figures in the coming weeks.

Australia based media company Ten network Holdings (TEN), has recently declared that it has managed to secure the rights of broadcasting the National Basketball League (NBL) for the next five years. The declaration is being considered as another example of increasing competition in the media sector involving pay-TV, free-to-air TV and internet industry.

A lawsuit was filed by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) yesterday against Cabcharge Australia (CAB), a company that is operated by the Sydney Taxi operator Reg Kermode. In the lawsuit ACCC has accused Cabcharge for misusing its market power in an attempt to eliminate its competitors from the market.
