Equatorial Coal (EQX) is a publicly listed company that focuses on coal mining exploration and production, appraisal and development of coal. EQX was listed in 1987, and initially invested in oil and gas projects. In December 2002 the company shifted its focus to biotechnology after purchasing a stake in the Gingerol project. In 2003 the company established the subsidiary Zingo TX to develop Gingerol. The Gingerol technology was developed by the School of Pharmacy at the University of Sydney. The University holds a stake in Zingo TX.
