Arc Halts Operations After Violent Protests in Indonesia


Shares of Indonesian focused gold explorer Arc Exploration (ARX) fell by 20 percent or 0.2 cents at 0.8 cents this morning as it halts some of its operations after the deaths of two people in a gold exploration protest in Bima, East Sumbawa. Gold exploration protesters blockaded the local port of Sape and clashed with the police as the latter tries to reopen the port on Christmas Eve, resulting to the two fatalities.

Orica Resumes Ammonium Nitrate Production


Explosives maker Orica (ORI) has finally resumed its ammonium nitrate production in Kooragang Island after the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) lifted the prevention notice last week. Orica was allowed to restart three nitric acid plants and two ammonium nitrate plants in the said area.

Wotif.com Holdings Expects 29 Percent Jump in Full-Year Profit


Wotif.com Holdings (WTF), an online travel agency that offers online accommodation booking services to around 45 countries with main focus on the Australian and New Zealand market has announced that it is expecting to see its full-year profit to increase by as much as 29 percent based on strong occupancy levels in Australia. The WTF shares went up by 1.84 percent or 9c on Wednesday hitting $4.99 where it was closed at an eight month low ($4.90 a share) on Tuesday.
