Telstra Submits Revised Separation Plan


One of Australia's largest telecommunications company Telstra (TLS) has finally submitted its revised sturctural separation undertaking (SSU) to the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission that was due last week. ACCC's approval of the telco's SSU is the last step in the completion of Telstra's $11 billion deal with NBN.

Telecommunications Company Telstra (TLS) faces a crucial time to get the approval of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) to finalise its proposed $11 billion deal with the National Broadband Network. The telco seems to be running out of time after failing to submit the final revised structural separation undertaking (SSU) last night.

Telecommunications company Telstra (TLS) believes that they can still reach an agreement with the regulators regarding its participation with the National Broadband Network (NBN) before the year ends.

A high-speed fibre-to-the-node (FTTN) broadband government plan would have pushed through if not due to Telstra's (ASX:TLS) obstruction, as revealed by Senator Stephen Conroy, Broadband, Communications and Digital Economy minister. To protect itself from competition while maintaining government support, Telstra would have received a $15-$20 billion compensation, while leaving the telecommunications company free to build a competing network, according to the senator.

Telstra Shares may Rise on NBN Deal


The shares of Telstra (TLS), the largest telecommunications carrier of Australia is likely to start gaining in the stock market as the company is expecting to see its $11 billion worth of NBN deal coming on board. NBN Co. and Telstra has announced the in-principle agreement on Sunday according to which the carrier is to decommission its copper and cable telephone and broadband services and will have to move its users to the national broadband network which worth $43 billion.
