Blackthorn Resources (BTR) acquires and develops mining ventures in Africa, particularly in the southern and western regions. AIM focuses on precious metals such as platinum, as well as base metals like nickel and copper. The company’s projects include the Perkoa Zinc Mine Project, Burkina Faso; the Mumbwa Iron Oxide Copper-Gold (IOCG) Project, Zambia; and the Mokopane Project, South Africa.
BHP Billiton (ASX:BHP) pulled out of a joint venture with Blackthorn Resources (ASX:BTR), but will retain its right for a 2 percent production royalty on any substantial output mined from the area. The decision will leave Blackthorn with the whole copper mining project in Zambia.
