Transfield has $1.1 billion work in Q1 2010-11


Services contractor, Transfield (ASX:TSE) has secured $1.1 billion worth of work in the first quarter of 2010-11 fiscal year. $670 million was with existing clients.

The Non-Residential Cycle is churning and at the moment Macquarie Research Equities (MRE) believes that Australia is in the midst of an up-tick in engineering and non-residential construction spending. Wal King, CEO of Leighton has recently said, "With all of this activity and the opportunities still emerging, it really is difficult to recall a more positive environment for the group.

Non-Residential Construction Boom


A non-residential construction boom is coming according to stock analyst Macquarie Research Equities (MRE). The number of upgrades to estimated major project construction work for 2007 has increased and in MRE's estimates that this could "reflect strong underlying demand and a freeing up of resources with the completion of a number of large projects. Major project work in 2006 increased 20% to $A20.7bn." According to the analyst, the main sectors driving these non-residential construction upgrades are mining, utilities and energy.
