Queensland Gas QGC was the overall best performing Australian company taking in a 34.5 percent increase in its share price this week. For the past week (week 6 for 2008) on the Australian sharemarket, among the best performing stocks were a mixture of metal & mineral, telecommunication & media, steel and coal seam gas companies: Fortescue (FMG), Telstra (TCS), OneSteel (OST), Queensland Gas (QGC), Arrow Energy (AOE). These best performing stocks for week 3 recorded between 5.3 percent to 34.5 percent for their gain by the end of the trading week.
Orica was the overall winning stock for the week taking in a 11.2 percent increase in its share price. It was a mixture of metal commercial explosives, mining, travel and media companies who were among the best performing stocks for the week 50 of 2007 on the Australian sharemarket: Orica (ORI), Fortescue (FMG), Consolidated Media (CMJ), Flight Centre (FLT). These best performing stocks for week 50 recorded gains above 10 percent by the end of the trading week.
Lynas Corporation (LYS) was the overall best performing stock taking in a 20.09 percent increase. Among the best performing companies for the past week (week 39 of 2007) on the Australian sharemarket were a mixture of financial services, aviation, metal and mining: Allco Finance (AFG), Babcock & Brown Air (BNB), Fortescue (FMG), Lynas Corporation (LYC), Mt. Gibson Iron (MGX), Murchison Metals (MMX). The majority of the best performing companies were metal & mining companies.
Fortescue (FMG) was the worst performing shares on the among the shares listed on the ASX200 index (Loser of the Week for week 12 of 2007). The mining company lost 11.06 percent or $2.15 during the week to close at $20.19. The All Ordinaries closed the week at 5978.8 and the ASX200 index closed at 5995.
