Techniche (TCN) is a venture capital company that is involved in the development and commercialisation of innovative technology products and investment in technology companies. Its current major investment is in Theta Technologies, a Brisbane-based software development company.
Techniche was first listed on the Australian stock market (ASX) in April 1987. In late 2004, early 2005 Techniche completed the sale of Jtec Pty Limited, and in early 2005 it made its first investment into Theta Technologies, a software development company. Techniche's head office is based in Brisbane.
Techniche's differentiating factor is its investment in Theta Technologies. Theta has developed two software programs - a generic risk management and auditing tool called Information Leader (IL), which has been developed using Microsoft.NET, and a training module, QTS (I-Train). The software assists organisations preparing, tracking, checking and filing their quality control information in a timely, compliant and cost-effective manner.
TCN's major customers would be fund managers and retail investors. Its main competitors include other venture capital and private equity firms.
The Company is also engaged in investing, providing funds and management assistance to its subsidiaries. The Company has operations in Australia and Europe. The Company’s subsidiaries include Abacus Data Systems Pty Ltd, Bligh Superannuation Pty Ltd, ERST International Pty Ltd and Prologic Pty Ltd. On July 1, 2008, the Company acquired ERST European Retail Systems Technology GmbH.
On October 1, 2008, the Company disposed Bligh Superannuation Pty Limited. On December16, 2008, the Company acquired TVPC International Pty Limited. On June 29, 2009, the Company disposed Techniche Superannuation Nominees Pty Limited.
