Tidewater Investments (TDI) is an active strategic investment company. The company is involved in strategic equity investments and funds management investments. Tidewater Investment is a fully owned subsidiary of Loftus Lane Investments Pty Ltd. Its operations involve the establishment and development of new 'boutique' funds management businesses through providing facilities and capital by way of loan or investment. TDI (formerly TCP) was listed on Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) on 14 April 2000. Its head office is situated in Martin Place, Sydney.
Loftus Lane Investments Pty Ltd operates the strategic equity investment business of TDI. Its areas of investment include strategic holdings and investments in 'microcap' companies in which TDI can exert a degree of influence either through board representation or through assisting in enhancing shareholder value, non-strategic shareholdings in a variety of small to medium special situation companies. In addition, it owns a number of selective unlisted investments.
Major competitors of this company which is listed on the Australian stock market, would be other businesses in strategic and funds management investments such as MLC, IAG. Customers include the general public and other fund managers. The Company is engaged in funds management and financial services, which include the establishment of, and provision of capital and services to new boutique funds management businesses, the acquisition of shareholdings in existing boutique funds management, operation of a wholesale funds management business, and other related financial services businesses.
It operates in two segments: funds management and investment. Funds management includes the management of closed-end investment vehicles and provision of other funds management services. Investment includes investment in closed-end investment funds, microcap Australian companies and other financial services entities. In December 2009, Tidewater had 9.95% interest in Equities and Freeholds Ltd.
