AWB Shares: Shady dealings by David Tweed

There has been some shady dealings with respect to AWB shares, David Tweed and his company "Australian Share Purchasing Corporation." A number of farmers in Victoria have reported receiving a letter from Tweed's company offering to buy their AWB shares for well under their market value. Australian Share Purchasing is offering to buy AWB shares off the farmers for $1.50 per share - compare that to the price of $2.71 - that was the share price for AWB when farmers were receiving the letters.

Telstra Final Call

Telstra T3: You've got two days left to submit your T3 Application form (attached to your T3 prospectus)which is due by 4pm this Thursday. It's probably too late to rely on Australia Post to deliver your forms on time: play it safe and submit your forms to your nearest Commonwealth Bank or you can simply apply online. For many people investing in T3 is a psychological hurdle, especially those who bought into T2 at $7.40.

Bear Peter Costello

Has anyone noticed that Peter Costello has had a bearish mood all year? I would think that Peter Costello as Australia's Federal Treasurer would have some reason why he is trying to warn the Australian people about impeding doom in the markets all year. Is it because he is a politician and by knowing that the market simply goes in cycles of booms and busts, he will inevitably be right anyway?

Telstra T3 Propectus

So you've got your Telstra T3 Prospectus? You've got until 4pm Thursday 9th November to decide - that is if the offer isn't closed early. There are people against buying Telstra again - especially those who were hurt from T2 and those who are keen to buy. So how do you decide whether or not to subscribe to the Telstra 3 float?

Planet Platinum (PPN) has their share price steadily around 15 cents. They claim their industry Group as simply "Consumer services". You may have heard about them when they first floated on the Australian Stock Exchange in 2003. They were in the news quite a bit because of their business mainstay: bordellos and classy strip joints. I think the thought of their business actually made me think that their business would be successful: since of course, that industry is perhaps the oldest industry in the world. Would I invest in it? No. I don't think it is an ethical investment for me. And secondly, the stock doesn't seem to have any trend in price and come to think of it, there is no prospect for growth (well hopefully there isn't or else society is in deep trouble), unless their business buys out other locations.

Their website cheekily claimed:

For those of you that have already had the pleasure of meeting our interactive tour guide Bailey on the Showgirls Bar 20 website you will be delighted to know that you can have her for your very own!

My Share Trading Website Theme Update and 9 month Anniversary

It's been 9 months since I first started to post up articles in this modest website. I first started posting in December of 2005 to reflect on personal experiences in the market (to which I dedicate a separate website - Trading Critic) as well as news, observations as well as blog entries to record market movements such as the ever interesting winners and losers of the week. I've upgraded the theme to make the website look aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
