Traffic Technologies (TTI) provides services and hardware to the road industry. It has three divisions: Traffic Management, Traffic Signals & Hardware and Traffic Signs. It specialises in the development, marketing and sale of its Smart Traffic Light product, which utilises LED technology. The Smart Traffic Light can improve performance of traffic lights whilst reducing the power consumption and maintenance costs for road traffic authorities.
Traffic Technologies (formerly Infosentials Limited) was listed on the Australian stock market (ASX) in February 1998. Its shares were suspended from 2000, and after extensive restructuring, was relisted on the ASX in January 2004 under the name Traffic Technologies Limited. In 2004, the company acquired Traffic Services Australia (TSA), one of Australia's largest traffic management companies.
The traffic services industry is currently fragmented. The acquisition of Traffic Services Australia has provided TTI with a first mover advantage in consolidating this industry. Its traffic management division is the largest in Australia and is the only national operator.
Its major competitors are manufacturers of traffic lights using traditional incandescent or halogen globes. Customers of its hardware services include the Australian and international road authorities, rail authorities, and councils.
The Traffic Products division includes Technical Products segment and Signage segment. Technical Products specializes in the design, manufacture and installation of traffic signals and emergency telephones, supply of parking meters, and design and manufacture of portable roadside technology. Signage provides a range of traffic signs, traffic control products and traffic cones to road traffic authorities, municipal councils and construction companies.
Traffic Services provides labor hire (traffic controllers) and equipment hire (barrier guard and portable roadside technology) services to road traffic authorities and construction companies. On May 16, 2008, the Company sold its Guard Rail Installations business and assets.
