Student's introduction to the financial world

Experience is the best teacher but having a degree can be useful, especially if you want to work in a financial company. This way you don't have to dive in with your eyes closed. Education and internship are great tools to train you in the business world.

There is not exactly a Bachelor of Science in stock market trading. There are no qualifications to be met to be able to trade in the stock market so you don't really need to enrol in a four year course to get yourself started. However, as always, basics are very important, especially if your risking your money in an unpredictable market. A degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Accounting, Commerce, Law or Marketing is more than enough to give you a background. You can also opt to self study since experience is the best teacher in trading. There are also plenty of information in the internet and a multitude of beginner's guide books. The so called Mum and Dad investors prove that you don't need to come from Harvard to start a career in trading as long as you are resourceful.

However if you want to be an investment banker and fund manager the courses mentioned above are essential majors to choose from. It will depend on which job you choose as your career path. Starting as an analyst is a good entry level for those who want to be an investment banker. Finding training courses related to investment management is great for fund managers. What follows next is garnering experience for the career path you want to take. Working your way to the top of a financial company is the best way to achieve your goals.
