Woolworths Sales Increase in the Third Quarter Despite Falling Prices


Australian retailer Woolworths (ASX:WOW) core sales increased by 3.3 percent last Monday, nearly hitting its expected figure of 3.5 percent. Liquor and food sales posted a 4.6 percent increase in sales in the third quarter, even though average prices were 3.6 percent lower. The supermarket division is up by 5.2 percent, while the general merchandise division increased its sales by 1.7 percent.
